The Children’s Academy on the Halifax is a childcare center serving children ages 6 weeks to 4 years of age. The Academy rents from and is on the grounds of St. James Episcopal Church. Volunteers are always needed to assist with a variety of tasks, such as, answering phones and doors, warming bottles, reading to children, and rocking babies. Volunteers will need to undergo a background check via fingerprinting.

Vince Carter’s Embassy of Hope Foundation addresses the needs of children and families. It offers scholarships to Volusia County graduating high school seniors who meet the qualifications. In addition, the organization provides Christmas food baskets to needy families.
